RUSSIAN STATE DUMA SPEAKER ADVISES NOT TO EXPECT A SPEEDY RESOLUTION OF THE KARABAKH CONFLICT

16:40 07.02.2013

Karabakh conflict has gone too far to be resolved quickly and easily,
Speaker of the Russian State Duma Sergey Naryshkin said during the
meeting with MPs of French National Assembly in Paris. Naryshkin
noted that it is wrong to expect a speedy resolution of the conflict.

The issue of referendum is a stumbling block in the work on peace
agreement, he said, at the same time noting that it can be solved,
Rosbalt informs.

The Speaker of the State Duma does not share the opinion of one
of French lawmakers who called Medvedev-Aliyev-Sargsyan platform
a failure.

“You call Medvedev-Aliyev-Sargsyan platform a failure. I do not agree
with your assessment,” Naryshkin said, adding that trilateral meetings
yielded results.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
