Investigative group of National Security Service thrashes over several
versions of assassination attempt against Hayrikyan

The investigative group of the National Security Service of Armenia
(NSS) is thrashing out several versions of the assassination attempt
against the presidential candidate, leader of the National
Self-Determination Union Paruyr Hayrikyan, NSS Spokesperson Artsvin
Baghramyan told ArmInfo.

He said that forensic medical, dactyloscopic and some other
examinations are to be conducted. Investigation is underway.

To note, the case is in the jurisdiction of the National Security
Service. Criminal proceedings have been instituted under Article
34-305 of the Criminal Code (attack on a statesman, politician or
public figure).

To remind, the leader of National Self-Determination Union,
presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikyan was shot in the shoulder
Wednesday night and taken to hospital. The police are investigating
the case.

To note, 8 candidates will run for presidency on Feb 18: incumbent
President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, former Prime Minister Hrant
Bagratyan, leader of Heritage Party Raffi Hovhannisian, leader of
Self-Determination Union Paruyr Hayrikyan, leader of National Accord
Party Aram Harutyunyan, former Foreign Minister of Nagorno-Karabakh
Arman Melikyan, political expert Andreas Ghukasyan and folklore
specialist Vartan Sedrakyan.
