in an Istanbul neighborhood. One 85-year-old murder victim was stabbed
repeatedly and had a cross carved on her corpse.
“Opinion remains divided as to whether these are organized hate crimes
targeting non-Muslims or just random theft,” The Economist reports.
“Istanbul’s governor, Huseyin Avni Mutlu, insists that it was the
latter.”
