YEREVAN. – Armenian presidential candidate Andreas Ghukasyan
will continue his hunger strike until election day on February 18,
Ghukasyan’s campaign headquarters coordinator Armen Grigoryan informed
during a press conference on Friday.

According to him, if Ghukasyan’s demands are not met until then,
he will develop new methods of efforts following February 18. He is
in normal health condition at present.

In response to the query as to whether Ghukasyan’s hunger strike is
a unique PR campaign, Grigoryan noted: “This is not true. The factor
of one man should not be ruled out. The history of mankind shows what
one man is capable of.”

As for public reaction to Ghukasyan’s protest, Grigoryan informed
that the response is more active than expected.

“Not only have the residents of the regions [of Armenia] but, also,
Diaspora Armenians responded pledging to pay for [Andreas] Ghukasyan’s
paid [broadcast] airtime, if necessary, Armen Grigoryan stated.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
