YEREVAN. – Kh. Torosyan, 86, a resident of Sasunik village of Armenia’s
Aragatsotn Region, drank an unknown toxic chemical on Wednesday,
in the room that was built in his garage, to end his life, Iravunk
daily reports.

“And a note was found at the garage that read: ‘I apologize to my
relatives for this action of mine. Please don’t blame anyone!’

And we tried to find out from Sasunik village prefect, Arman Margaryan,
as to what pushed the elderly man to such action. He specifically said:

‘The grandpa was a very good, respected man in the village. His son
and daughter-in-law died at an early age. He and his wife kept and
raised their three small grandchildren with great difficulty. When
his wife died in May 2012, that man became depressed instantaneously;
he used to say: ‘I’m a sick man; I don’t want to trouble anyone. If I
don’t die naturally, I’ll do something to die. I don’t want to become
a burden.’ In all likelihood, he resorted to such step to not become
the burden that he mentioned,'” Iravunk quotes.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
