Levon Shirinyan: Gagik Tsarukyan will run for president

Prosperous Armenia Party chairman Gagik Tsarukyan will run for
president, according to political scientist Levon Shirinyan.

Prosperous Armenia has proclaimed itself as an `alternative force’,
which is called by political scientists `opposition,’ Shirinyan told
reporters in Yerevan.

`The `alternative force’ is opposition in the classical sense. But it
is not street opposition. I would like Prosperous Armenia to have its
candidate in elections, advancing political processes and boosting the
state’s development,’ said the expert.

Referring to Prosperous Armenia’s proposal on transition to a
parliamentary system of government, Levon Shirinyan said, `Armenia
very much needs to have a multi-party parliamentary system of
government as well as modernization.’

The political scientist does not rule out the possibility that the
opposition may announce a common presidential candidate.
