YEREVAN, OCTOBER 23, ARMENPRESS: No grave changes have been
orchestrated in Aleppo Armenian districts, although the situation is a
little tense. Jirayr Reisyan, Berio National Primacy press secretary
told in the briefing with Armenpress, armed groups made attempts to
penetrate into mostly Armenian populated New Village, yet they failed
to get there. “On the whole, there is no grave change in the situation
and a kind of cautiousness atmosphere prevails. The army has deployed
its forces in the district. From time to time shots are heard in the
air” Reisyan came forth with. According to the press secretary the
distribution of Armenian humanitarian parcels is in the process.

Dwelling on the economic situation in Aleppo Reisyan stated the
city is blockaded, reportedly no positive changes can be expected
currently. The city is sank into deep economic crisis, job places remain
closed, many institutions are ruined. Despite this people are trying
to get vegetable and other products, take and sell them in Aleppo”
Reisyan noted.

More than 30 thousand people are killed during 20- months – ongoing
clashes in Syria, including 4 dozens of Armenians.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
