CANADA CONGRATULATES ARMENIA, NEWEST MEMBER OF LA FRANCOPHONIE
The Honourable Bernard Valcourt, Associate Minister of National
Defence and Minister of State (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency)
(La Francophonie), today issued the following statement:
Canada congratulates the Republic of Armenia on joining the
International Organisation of La Francophonie; its membership was
confirmed at the Francophonie Summit in Kinshasa, held October 12 to
14.
Canada fully supported Armenias candidacy to become an associate
member of lOrganisation internationale de la Francophonie at the Qubec
Summit in 2008. We are now happy to welcome Armenia as a full member.
Armenia has demonstrated its commitment to the values and objectives
of the organization in education and science, as well as in the
artistic, media and cultural arenas.
