Gazprom in negotiations with Armenia for 2013 gas price

YEREVAN. Oct 12

A delegation from Russian gas giant OJSC Gazprom (RTS: GAZ) held
negotiations in Yerevan on Friday with Armenia’s Energy and Natural
Resources Ministry for the gas price for the country in 2013.

“The Intergovernmental Committee has reviewed the gas prices. The
Gazprom management and Armenia’s Ministry of Energy and Natural
Resources are present. We are moving energetically on this issue. I am
sure that, as usual, we will reach an agreement that suits everybody,”
Russia’s Minister of Transport and Co-Chairman of the Armenia-Russia
Intergovernmental Committee for Economic Partnership, Maxim Sokolov,
said at a briefing in Yerevan on Friday.

Armenia is still buying gas from Russia at $180 per 1,000 cubic
meters. Armenian media outlets earlier reported that Gazprom plans to
raise the gas price for the republic to $280 per 1,000 meters as of
October 1, 2012 and to $320 effective January 2013.

Gazprom supplied around 1.6 billion cubic meters to Armenian consumers in 2011.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
