REPUBLIC PARTY REP: “I DON’T THINK THAT EUROPE IS EAGER TO PROTECT VARDAN OSKANYAN’S INTERESTS”

“I don’t think that Europe is eager to protect the interests of
Vardan Oskanyan,” Galust Sahakyan, Head of the ruling Republican
Party faction in the Parliament, Vice Chairman of RPA, said in the
parliament when commenting on distribution of documents in PACE saying
that the criminal case against Oskanyan has no legal ground and it
politically motivated.

Sahakyan is sure that the case is exclusively legal and the Armenian
public will make sure of that shortly.

“In the succession of time the passions will fade away. As regards
distribution of documents at PACE, I cannot welcome such step. There
were many cases in the history of our country when domestic political
problems were settled with help of external forces. It is inadmissible
for me,” he said. To recall, Vardan Oskanyan was deprived of deputy
immunity on October 2. Prosecutor General Hovsepyan appealed to the
Parliament for a permission to involve Vartan Oskanian as an accused
party in the money laundering case against Civilitas Foundation. The
appeal implies deprivation of deputy immunity, but not arrest.

Prosperous Armenia Party considers the given case as politically
motivated and pursuing the goal to exert pressure on the Party on
the threshold of presidential election.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
