Yerevan/Mediamax/. The National Assembly of Armenia approved the
petition submitted by Prosecutor General Aghvan Hovsepyan on depriving
MP Vardan Oskanian of the inviolability of a deputy and involve him
as an accused.

64 MPs voted “for”, 6 – “against” the approval of the petition and
1 ballot paper was considered invalid.

The Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), Dashnaktsutyun, ANC and Heritage
didn’t participate in the voting.

“The petition has nothing to do with an arrest or detainment. This way,
the pre-investigation body enables Vardan Oskanian to carry out his
activities as MP and move freely”, said Aghvan Hovsepyan on October 2.

Vardan Oskanian denies all the accusations and claims that the law
enforcement agencies meet a political order.

The PAP stated last week:

“”Prosperous Armenia” party considers the petition on involving Vardan
Oskanian as an accused, submitted by the Prosecutor General of Armenia
to the National Assembly, a political prosecution which is aimed not
only against Vardan Oskanian but “Prosperous Armenia” party.

The accusations presented in the petition are unsubstantiated and
lack any legal reasoning. “Prosperous Armenia” party strongly condemns
use of such methods in political matters”.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
