A music video by Hrachya Avanesyan, a Belgium-based Armenian musician,
has gained an increasing popularity on YouTube.

A sound track for a criminal film by Quentin Tarantino, it has had
450,000 views since being posted on the video hosting website on
September 15.

Avanesyan has released the video as a member of the Trilogy band.

The musician’s name caught the public ear last year after he asked the
Armenian authorities to solve his army conscription issue to enable
him to represent Armenia at the International Tchaykovsky Competition
in .

A competition panel, considered to be one of the most difficult ones,
selected Avanesyan along with 20 other musicians from among 300
performers.

Avanesyan, 26, was in the wanted list for not serving in the military
and travelling abroad. He didn’t have a right to enter Russia which
was the hosting the competition. But the Armenian authorities met the
musician half-way, granting him deferment. Nonetheless he didn’t
manage to participate the competition.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
