YEREVAN. – Those interviews in Armenia’s press already bespeak the
start of active politics, political technologist Karen Kocharyan said
during a press conference on Tuesday.

As per the analyst, however, this start is given around twenty days
too early, that is, without waiting for September 21, Armenia’s
Independence Day anniversary.

Karen Kocharyan also noted that he does not share the opinion that
it must be left up to the people to choose the political opposition’s
single candidate for next year’s presidential elections.

“If we leave it up to the people, that is utopia. What is more, it
has become a sickness among the political figures that, when they
are strong, they don’t bear the people in mind, but as soon as they
are weak, they remember [the people],” Kocharyan remarked.

Also, he stressed that, unfortunately, the presidential race will be
among the first, second, and third-i.e., the serving-presidents.

“Why unfortunately? Because our people and the political field,
alike, don’t look ahead, but rather look back yet again,” Karen
Kocharyan stated.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
