YEREVAN. – Lake Sevan’s current water level is 1,936 centimeters, and
Armenia’s Ministry of Nature Protection is planning on raising the
water level to 1,939.5 centimeters, the Ministry’s Deputy Chief of
Staff Ashot Avalyan said during a press conference on Wednesday.

In his words, the Lake’s entire shore area is 144,000 hectares, whose
approximately 22,000 hectares are swimming areas and 4,300 hectares
are allocated for recreation.

Ashot Avalyan also stressed that, in line with the Government’s 2008
decision, the proprietors of public and private beaches have the right
to command eighty percent of their leased area as they deem
appropriate.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
