Armenia is looking at joining the Eurasian Economic Union, speaker
of the Russian State Duma lower parliament house Sergei Naryshkin,
who is ending his Armenian visit, said on Tuesday.

According to the Russian speaker, subjects of Eurasian integrations
were raised at his talks with Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and
Prime Minister Tigran Sarkisyan. “The Armenian leaders are closely
watching the development of the Eurasian project and are set to find
Armenia’s place in it,” Naryshkin said.

The Eurasian project, Naryshkin noted, already now is bringing about
positive results. Thus, in 2011 alone, mutual trade between the
three member countries of the Customs Union, i.e. Russia, Belarus,
and Kazakhstan, went up by 30 percent as compared with 2010.

After his talks with the Armenian leaders, the speaker of the Russian
State Duma reiterated that Armenia’s authorized agencies are working
out documents related to the ratification of the free trade zone
agreement in the Commonwelath of Independent States. “We hope it will
be ratified this fall,” Naryshkin added.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
