YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Education and Science Minister Armen Ashotyan
on Tuesday received Iran’s newly-appointed Ambassador to Armenia,
Mohammad Reisi.

First, the Minister congratulated the Ambassador for commencing his
diplomatic mission in Armenia, and noted that being Iran’s Ambassador
to Armenia is an honored but accountable work.

Ashotyan expressed a hope that the education programs-which were
outlined in the intergovernmental agreement signed between Armenia
and Iran-will develop.

Also, the Minister informed the Ambassador that Armenia wishes to
see more number of Iranian students in the country’s institutions of
higher education. And he noted that Armenia has sat out the strictest
standards, from among CIS countries, for providing a graduation
diploma to foreign students.

In his turn, Mohammad Reisi noted that Iran greatly underscores the
need to deepen ties with Armenia, and he pointed to the similarities,
which the two countries have acquired over the course of history,
and assured that he will do his utmost to improve ties between Armenia
and Iran.

The interlocutors also discussed several other education-related
matters.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
