President Saakian leading in Nagorno-Karabakh election – CEC

YEREVAN. July 20

A preliminary tally of 45% of ballots cast in Nagorno-Karabakh’s
presidential election on Thursday gives 70.20% of the vote to the
self-proclaimed republic’s incumbent leader Bako Saakian, a local
Central Election Commission (CEC) spokesman told Interfax.

Nagorno-Karabakh National Assembly deputy Gen. Vitaly Balasanian has
won 29. 40% of the vote, and deputy rector of Yerevan State Agrarian
University’s Stepanakert branch Arkady Sogomonian 0.40%.

The election drew a turnout of 73.42%, which means that 72,833 of
Nagorno-Karabakh’s 99,190 registered eligible voters cast their
ballots, the commission said.

The Central Election Commission has not received any complaints of
voting irregularities.
