Georgia Doesn’t Recognize Nagorno-Karabakh Elections

source: Civil.Ge

July 21, 2012

(Civil.Ge) – The Georgian Foreign Ministry reaffirmed Tbilisi’s
`unequivocal support’ for Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and it
`does not recognize the so-called `presidential elections” held in
the breakaway region on July 19.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday that the
international community should intensify its efforts in order to solve
`the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict peacefully through a constructive
dialogue between the parties.’

The Georgian Foreign Ministry released similar statements when
breakaway Nagorno-Karabakh held local elections in September, 2011 and
parliamentary elections in May, 2010.

Civil Georgia is a daily news online service devoted to delivering
quality news and analysis about Georgia. Civil.Ge is run by The UN
Association of Georgia, a Georgian non-governmental organization, in
frames of `National Integration and Tolerance in Georgia’ Program
financed by USAID. Civil Georgia is also supported by Friedrich Ebert
Stiftung.
