ARMENIA TO HAVE STATISTICAL REGISTER OF COMMUNICATION AND TELECOMMUNICATION

YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Transport and Communication Ministry is given
the task of creating a statistical administrative register for
communication and information telecommunication technology indicators.

The Government on Thursday also specified the method for gathering
data into this register.

According to this novelty, Armenia’s Ministry of Education and Science,
Ministry of Healthcare, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Economy,
Ministry of Finance, and Public Services Regulatory Commission will be
obligated to submit to the Transport and Communication Ministry, and
no later than February 20, the previous year’s information indicators
of their domains.

This decision is of particular importance especially in terms of
submitting complete data to the International Telecommunication Union
(ITU). Since Armenia has not submitted its data to the ITU in timely
fashion, it currently occupies lower positions in the Information
and Communication Technology Development Index in recent years.
