During the snap meeting conducted by the new government on June 18,
Armenian President Serzh Sarkisyan stated that in 2012 he expects to
see 7% economic growth in the country. It should be mentioned that
some time ago the World Bank prognosis for economic growth in Armenia
in 2012 was fixed at 4.3%. However, the new Armenian government in
its action plan highlights different priorities. First it intends to
increase two-fold the minimum salaries, decrease the level of poverty
by 5% and create more than 100, 000 new jobs in the country. This
was declared by PM Tigran Sarkisyan. The Armenian government plans
to move to the strategy for economic development in the country.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
