The book of Italian alpinist `Ararat: In Search of Traces of Noah’s
Ark’ presented in Rome

The Italian Geographic Society organized the presentation of the book
of Italian alpinist Tito de Luca `Ararat: In Search of Traces of
Noah’s Ark’ at the initiative of the Armenian Embassy on June in Rome.

Armenian Ambassador to Italy Ruben Karapetyan, Chairman of the Italian
Geographic Society Franco Salvatori, the author of the book Tito de
Luca, scientists of Rome’s Roma Tre University and University of Pisa
delivered speeches at the presentation.

In his speech Ambassador Karapetyan particularly said the book is
devoted to a topic of an exceptional interest, which has a great
significance not only for the Armenian people but also for the whole
humanity. Ambassador Karapetyan stressed many know the biblical story
of Noah’s Ark, which came to rest on Mount Ararat after the great
flood. But few know that Ararat is in the heart of historical Armenia,
that Ararat Valley under the biblical mountain became Noah’s house,
and Armenia became his homeland.

The ambassador also added this event is becoming even more important
today when the policy of some neighbours of Armenia of distorting the
history and stealing the elements of Armenian culture and presenting
them as theirs has become more aggressive. He expressed conviction
that such events contribute to publicizing the information on the
Armenian civilization and are the best way not to allow further
historical manipulations.

RA foreign ministry informs that the event, which took place in the
historical home of the Italian Geographic Society, Villa Celimontana,
was attended by diplomats accredited in Italy, numerous
representatives of culture and scientific circles, Italian press and
the Armenian community.
