PHILIPPE LEFORT: “WE ARE READY TO HELP THE SIDES IN THE SETTLEMENT OF NAGORNO KARABAKH CONFLICT, BUT WE CAN’T DO MIRACLE”

Baku – APA. “The Nagorno Karabakh conflict must be settled within
the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group” said EU Special Representative
for South Caucasus and crisis in Georgia Philippe Lefort, APA reports
quoting Novosty Armenia agency.

Lefort met with students and teachers of the Centre for European
Studies of the Yerevan State University in Armenia and said that the
OSCE gave a new mandate to the Minsk Group and the European Union
couldn’t make a decision instead of this organization: “Changing of
format threatens with return to zero position.” He noted that the
OSCE Minsk Group has already prepared the scenarios of the conflict
settlement on the basis of the Madrid principles: “These principles
are very significant and the both sides accepted these.”

Lefort underlined that the EU is ready to help the sides in the
settlement of the conflict but said the sides bear responsibility
for it: “We are ready to help the sides in the settlement of Nagorno
Karabakh conflict, but we can’t do miracle.”
