Nalbandian Calls Iran’s Balanced Stance on Karabakh Important

Foreign Minister Nalbandian meets with Iran’s presiden Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

TEHRAN – Armenia’s Foreign Minister Eduard Nalbandian told his Iranian
counterpart Ali Akbar Salehi that Iran’s balanced position vis-à-vis
the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is important and bolsters Iran-Armenia
relations.

Nalbandian, who is Iran, met with Salehi to discuss a wide array of
issues, including the latest developments on Iran’s nuclear programs.
After being briefed by Salehi on the matter, Nalbandian highlighted
the progress that was made in that realm, expressing hope it would be
reinforced during a scheduled meeting on the matter to be held in
Baghdad.

The two leaders also discussed the activities of the Armenian-Iranian
Intergovernmental Commission, as well cooperation between the two
countries in the fields of transport, education, energy, customs,
environmental protection, healthcare, agriculture and culture.

Nalbandian also met with Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The two
hailed the continued cooperation between the two countries, discussed
the process of implementation of joint economic programs, discussed
the projects of construction of the 2nd Armenia-Iran power line,
hydroelectric power plants on the Arax River, oil pipeline and
Iran-Armenia railway.

While in Iran, Nalbandian also met with the Chairman of Iran’s
Parliament, Ali Larijani and Secretary of the Supreme Security Council
of Iran, chief negotiator on nuclear programs Said Jalili.
