YEREVAN, April 23. /ARKA/. Lack of professionals and outdated equipment
are the most pressing problems of Armenian science, according to the
president of the National Academy of Sciences Radik Martirosyan.

“We are not able to solve many problems due to outdated equipment
and a small number of researchers of middle age,” he said at a press
conference on Monday.

Martirosyan said 29% of researchers are people under the age of 35
years, 26% are 35 -55 years old and 45% are over 55. He added that
this does not mean that the Armenian science is dying and losing
its quality.

“Armenian science now is at a sufficiently high level and almost
corresponds to the average world level,” he said, adding that this
fact is also supported by international experts.

Noting that the most advanced science in Armenia is physics,
Martirosyan said that the country needs to advance researches in solar,
geothermal and wind energy.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
