The Yerevan Press Club (YPC) presented the final results of the
monitoring of nine broadcasting media in the pre-election period.

Summing up the results of the monitoring conducted between April 8
and 17, YPC Director Boris Navasardyan said he’s fairly surprised,
since all media under monitoring ensured a balanced coverage of the
political forces running in the elections.

The monitoring group has concluded that the eight parties and one
alliance running for parliament had equal opportunities to present
their platforms and views to the voters.

The analyses of the monitoring group reveal that the coverage of this
election campaign is quite different from the previous ones. According
to Boris Navasardyan, this positive trend could bring to better results
if the political forces worked better with media. The matter is that
journalists often face problems contacting representatives of this
or that party.

In any case, the picture is so positive that Boris Navasardyan said
he would not like to mention any shortcoming.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
