NO ALTERNATIVE TO NAGORNO-KARABAKH’S INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION – ARMENIAN NA VICE-SPEAKER

Eduard Sharmazanov, Vice-Speaker of Armenia’s parliament, commented
on a statement Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev made at the Azeri
cabinet’s meeting in Baku, on Monday.

The international recognition of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR)
has no alternative, Sharmazanov said.

“First, Azerbaijan must put an end to the arms race and to its militant
rhetoric. Second, it must prepare its society for peace, not for war,”
Sharmazanov said.

If President Aliyev wants to see Azerbaijan’s national flag in
Stepanakert, establishing diplomatic relations with independent NKR
is the only way to this. “The national flag of independent NKR will
be waving on the NKR Embassy in Baku, and neighboring Azerbaijan’s
national flag will be waving on the Azerbaijani Embassy in Stepanakert.

“I think that, sooner or later, the state north of Artsakh, will come
to realize the NKR’s international recognition has no alternative,”
Sharmazanov said.

At the Azeri cabinet’s meeting, President Aliyev said that
“Azerbaijan’s national flag will some say be waving in Stepanakert
and Shushi.”
