POLITICAL FORCES ACTIVELY USING FACEBOOK AS A PROPAGANDA TOOL

There are more than 290 thousand Facebook users in Armenia, and the
number tends to grow. Taking into consideration the fact, the “Region”
research center has initiated a monitoring of this social network,
viewing it as an election podium.

Director of the center Laura Baghdasaryan notes that the number of
Facebook users has increased in Armenia due to the politicians and
parties running in the elections, who opened their profiles.

This is the first time the Faceebook is used as a propaganda tool. In
the first stage of the monitoring the “Region” center studied the
Facebook pages of five electronic media. The pages of the political
parties, candidate and civil groups were also in the focus of
attention. What role will Facebook play in the forthcoming elections?
