YEREVAN TO HOST CONFERENCE OF EUROPEAN INVESTMENT BANK, EBRD AND OTHER AND SOME OTHER EUROPEAN ORGANIZATIONS

YEREVAN, March 28. /ARKA/. Armenian capital Yerevan will host soon host
a working conference of representatives of the European Investment
Bank, THE European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and some
other European organizations, the National Security Council said in
a press release.

The press release did not specify when the conference may be held
here, saying that the preparation issues were discussed by National
Security Council secretary Artur Baghdasaryan with a delegation of
European Investment Bank led by Phillip Szimcsak, head of its credit
operations departments for the South Caucasus and Central Asia.

‘The two sides also discussed the possibility of implementing a
number of programs in Armenia with the participation of the European
Investment Bank, including questions relating to the integrated program
of reforming Armenia’s border infrastructure,” the press release said.

Szimczak was quoted as saying that the Bank is vested with broader
powers to expand cooperation with member countries involved in EU’s
Eastern Partnership program.

The European Investment Bank is a financial institution of the
European Union to finance the development of European regions via
long-term loans. The bank was established in 1958 to provide loans
for the construction and reconstruction of strategic facilities.
