RADAR SYSTEM IN TURKEY MAY BE USED AGAINST RUSSIA IN FUTURE – EXPERT

MOSCOW. – Duplication of a radar defense system in case of escalation
of situation over Iran is quite logical, Russian expert Alexander
Sakakov told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
“Israel may shift position on attack against Iran. Americans want to do
something but at the same time they are scared, as Iran is not Libya or
Iraq. On this background installation of anti-missile defense system in
Turkey is quite reasonable and serves for security,” the expert said.
Commenting on Russian FM Sergey Lavrov’s recent statement that
European missile shield in Turkey may be used against Russia, Skakov
characterized it as ‘not politically correct.’ The system technically
can be used against Russia, but currently it is not reasonable.
As whether Russia will take some preventive measures to press Turkey,
the experts said that both states have a wide range of developed
relations. Moscow will hardly press on Ankara, as it may later turn
against Russia.
As informed earlier, Russian FM said that NATO anti-missile radar in
Turkey is directed against Russia more than against Iran.
