ARMENIAN-RUSSIAN TIES MUST GO ON DEVELOPING

Aram Sargsyan, Chairman of the Democratic Party of Armenia, is for
further consolidation of Armenian-Russian relations.

“Armenian-Russian relations must develop as long as they are mutually
beneficial. Armenia’s relations with other states should be developed
as long as they do not interfere with our relations with Russia,”
he told journalists on Thursday.

In response to his earlier statement to that effect, the Armenian
Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D), as well as a number
of Heritage party members, stated Armenia should “cast of Russia’s
fetters” and consolidate its independence.

“If Russia wanted to colonize Armenia, Russia’s large-scale investments
in Armenia for mutual benefit can hardly be understood.

If we ourselves were able to ensure our national security and work
out large-scale projects it would be great,” Aram Sargsyan said.

US military bases are stationed in Turkey’s territory, but Turkey
does not hesitate to consider itself an independent nation, he added.
