YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Information Technology (IT) sector is
insufficiently informed about the technology-oriented free economic
zone to be established in the capital Yerevan, Karen Vardanyan,
Executive Director of the Union of Information Technology Enterprises,
stated during a roundtable discussion on Wednesday.

In his words, Armenia’s IT companies do not precisely know how they
can enter this free economic zone.

Hovhannes Avetisyan, Head of Economy Ministry’s Investment Policy
Department, responded by saying that all necessary legal documentations
are posted on the Ministry’s official website.

Enterprise Incubator Foundation Executive Director Bagrat Yengibaryan,
on the other hand, noted that the Government’s decisions adopted to
date solely regulate the requirements for the organizer of the free
economic zone.

In response, Avetisyan stated they only have received the Sitronix
Company’s bid for organizing Yerevan’s free economic zone, and
its launch will be announced six months after the signing of the
respective contract. As per Hovhannes Avetisyan, solely companies
with growing and developing plans ought to carry out activities in
this free economic zone.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
