YEREVAN. – If the ruling coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia’s
(RPA) new motto-“Let us believe, so we may change!”-was US President
Barack Obama’s motto, RPA should not be accused of plagiarism because
the problems could be the same in both cases, RPA MP Manvel Badeyan
said, during a press conference on Tuesday, commenting on the views
that RPA’s motto for the upcoming parliamentary elections was either
stolen from the opposition ARF Dashnaktsutyun Party’s “Let us change
our lives!” motto, or translated from that of Obama.

“If Obama wants reforms, that is good, but if [Armenian President
Serzh] Sargsyan wants reforms, that is bad?”, Manvel Badeyan asked.

In his turn, the press conference’s other speaker, opposition New
Times Party Chairman Aram Karapetyan noted this motto was accurate
in Obama’s case, since he had come to change the situation that was
created by his opponents. But Serzh Sargsyan, as per Karapetyan, is
using this motto in the case of his fourteen-year authority, and it
is interesting to know that he wants to change the situation caused
by who and why has he created a situation which needs to be changed.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
