THE ORIENTAL ORTHODOX AND ROMAN CATHOLIC DIALOGUE CONCLUDES ITS WORK IN
ADDIS ABABA

The last session of the ongoing Oriental Orthodox and Roman Catholic
dialogue was held 17-21 January 2012 in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia). The Armenian
Church was represented by Bishop Armash of the Holy See of Etchmiadzin, and
Archbishops Oshagan Choloyan and Nareg Alemezian Holy See of Cilicia.

On the first day, His Holiness, Patriarch Abune Paulos of the Ethiopian
Orthodox Tewahedo Church, presided over a meeting of the representatives of
the Oriental Orthodox Churches. They discussed issues arising from the
ecumenical movement. In the same evening, the Patriarch hosted a dinner to
welcome the members of the Dialogue Committee.

During the meeting, several papers were read on the topic “Eucharistic
Communion”. Discussion followed the presentations. On Friday 20 January,
members of the Dialogue Committee took part in the celebration of Timkat,
the Ethiopian Epiphany.

On Sunday 21 January, Bishop Armash celebrated the Liturgy at the Armenian
Church in Addis Ababa and Archbishop Nareg preached the sermon and
transmitted the blessings of His Holinesses Catholicos Karekin II and
Catholicos Aram I.

The next meeting of the Dialogue Committee will be held 22-27 January 2013
in Rome.
