Georgian ambassador to Turkey condemns French bill on Armenian genocide

Tbilisi, 29 December: Georgian ambassador to Turkey, Tariel Lebanidze
has condemned France’s recognition of the Armenian genocide. He made a
statement to this effect at a meeting held at the (?) Kavkazspor club
in the Turkish city of Inegol.

The meeting was attended by Turkish citizens of Georgian and other
Caucasus extraction. It is noteworthy that a large part of the
population in Inegol descends from Georgians who emigrated from
Ajaria.

“I strongly condemn France’s decision to recognize Armenian genocide
in Turkey. It is up to historians to discuss the events that unfolded
in 1915. This recognition has deteriorated the relations between the
two nations. The Georgian parliament is not considering the issue and
it will never become a subject of discussions,” Lebanidze said.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
