Draft law on gender equality

A group of MPs has worked out a draft law on state guarantees of
gender equality and submitted it for parliament’s consideration.

If passed, the law will regulate the allocation of a certain number of
seats for women in state bodies, co-author of the bill Hovhannes
Margaryan from the Orinats Yerkir Party told a press conference today.

The same should apply to the parliament, he said. `The parties will
have to include a certain number of women in their lists. The draft
law must still be considered by the National Assembly, and is expected
to undergo changes,’ Hovhannes Margaryan said.
