ARMENIA’S AUTHORITIES MORE ACTIVE WITH RESPECT TO ARMENIAN GENOCIDE ISSUE – EXPERT

Armenia’s authorities are more active with respect to the issue
of Armenian Genocide, the political scientist Narek Galstyan told
journalists Dec. 16.

He arrived at this conclusion after Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan’s
speech in Marseilles.

“The speech had an implication, namely, a demand for justice. Turkey,
to put it mildly, got enraged. The Turkish official’s response was
beneath criticism from the ethical point of view,” the expert said.

Although Armenia has never removed the issue of Armenian Genocide
from its agenda, Armenia’s foreign office should intensify activities
after the president’s recent speech, Galstyan said.

“We heard [Armenian Deputy FM] Shavarsh Kocharyan aptly describing
modern-day Turks as successors of Ottoman Turks. We are expecting
Armenian officials’ further statements. But I expect developments in
Turkey as well,” the expert said.

The issue of Armenian Genocide is not only a matter of justice for
Armenia. It must also become a matter of making clearly formulated
demands, according to Galstyan.

He hopes that France will adopt a bill penalizing the denial of the
Armenian Genocide, Dec. 22.

“France is not only trying to redress injustice, but it is also
pursuing its political interests. France has never denied it does
not wish to see Turkey as an EU member,” Galstyan said.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
