NO SILENCE CALLS FOR CO-THINKERS’ SUPPORT TO PROTECT TRCKHAN FROM DESTRUCTION (VIDEO)

The Armenian youth initiative No Silence is asking all its co-thinkers
to attend a big demonstration aimed at the protection of Trchkan
waterfall in the north of Armenia.

The organizer is “Let’s Preserve Trchkan Waterfall”, a group that
unites several organizations and initiatives.

The demonstration is set to take place at 3:00 pm November 1 outside
the Ministry of Nature Protection.

“A group of young people watch over Trchkan day and night to prevent
the wonder of nature from falling silent,” the activists say in their
statement. “We have to urge the government to provide a final solution
to the problem.”

No Silence launched its protest following the Ministry’s decision to
build a hydropower plant on the territory. Based on the Government’s
2004 decision to declare the site a water monument, they found the
move illegal.
