YEREVAN. – Armenian capital Yerevan’s mayor, Karen Karapetyan, could
soon hand in his resignation, Chorrord Inknishkhanutyun daily writes.

“According to conversations, Yerevan’s former mayor Gagik Beglaryan,
too, is aware that there is such matter on the agenda, and that
is why he started to attend the sessions of [ruling coalition’s
Republican Party of Armenia] RPA Executive Committee, in the hopes
that, after Karen Karapetyan’s resignation, they might call him back
and appoint him Mayor of Yerevan. According to our sources, however,
the authorities, in the person of [President] Serzh Sargsyan, are not
preparing to make Beglaryan mayor again,” Chorrord Inknishkhanutyun
writes.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
