ARMENIAN PRIEST DEFROCKED FOR EXPRESSING CONDOLENCE TO ERDOGAN

An Armenian priest was defrocked for publishing condolence letter in
Turkish press on death of Premier Erdogan~Rs mother.

Members of the council of Armenian Surb Khach church in Istanbul~Rs
Uskyudar district decided to publish a condolence letter to Premier
Erdogan on the occasion of his mother~Rs death, Turkey-based Armenian
Agos newspaper reports.

The move was negatively perceived by Armenian Deputy Patriarch of
Constantinople Aram Ateshyan.

Ateshyan defrocked the priest of Surb Khch church Koryun Fenerjyan for
publishing a letter without holding consultations with patriarchate.
