GREENS ORGANIZE BIKE RIDE IN DEFENSE OF TRCHKAN WATERFALL

The Armenian Greens have organized a bike ride in defense of the
Trchkan Waterfall.

The event is a response to the project to build a small water power
plant near the waterfall. The Greens are concerned that the project
may damage Trchkan and the eco-system of the area.

In 2008 Trchkan was proclaimed as a hydrological natural monument.

This however was not an obstacle for the Nature Protection Ministry,
who gave the green- light to the small WPP project.

The bikers have met with the residents of the nearby villages, who
also believe that the project may put an end to the waterfall.
