Armenia: Host nation chooses Dalita

Dalita will represent the host nation at this year’s Junior
Eurovision, after winning the Armenian national competition with her
song `Welcome to Armenia’. She beat off 15 other contestants in a 2
and a half hour show, hosted by Armenian Head of Delegation Gohar
Gasparyan and Vladimir Arzumanyan, Junior Eurovision 2010 winner. You
can hear the winning song:

Dalita Avanessian (11), lives in the capital and attends a music
school in Yerevan in the piano, guitar and vocal sections. She is also
a young actor. Dalita currently has six songs in her repitoire which
she has written herself, including some music videos.

Dalita, like Ukrainian entrant Kristall is also a TV presenter, and
has hosted various features in Armenia’s morning TV shows. She also
plays the role of Charlita in the TV show `Charlie Show’, and has her
own kids magazine column.

The eleven year old is no stranger to Junior Eurovision — she
participated in the national selection last year, placing fifth.
Dalita last year also took part in Armenia’s `Got Talent’ program,
titled `Hidden Talent’ on Shant TV.

Junior Eurovision fans will notice that the song contains a large
amount of English, however, this is allowed according to the rules of
the contest — which now allow 25% of the song can be in a non-native
language to the participating country. At Junior Eurovision, Dalita
will be backed by dancers Robert, Raqelle, Dalita, Elen and Meliq. The
studio version of `Welcome to Armenia’ can be heard below:
