168 ZHAM: HOVIK ABRAHAMYAN ARMENIA’S NEXT PREMIER?

Armenian Premier Tigran Sargsyan’s resignation has lately been
discussed within political circles, the newspaper reports. Armenian
Parliament Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan and Chairman of Armenia’s Control
Chamber Ishkhan Zakaryan are mentioned as likely candidates for
the post.

According to some information, Hovik Abrahamyan has assured his
associates that he will be appointed Armenia’s premier late in
September. The issue has allegedly been agreed on with President
Serzh Sargsyan.

As regards Ishkhan Zakaryan, he is rumored to be supported by his
Russian counterpart, Chairman of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian
Federation Sergey Stepashin.
