On the heels of a Hetq article regarding the sale of expired oatmeal at
a Yerevan City supermarket store, (Expired Children’s Oatmeal Sold at
Yerevan City Supermarket: Director Pleads Ignorance) the government’s
Food Safety Agency has petitioned Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan to
issue a directive allowing for inspections at the chain.

Hayk Minasyan, who works at the agency, told Hetq that the prime
minister has 12 working days to order such a directive and that once
issued staffers will conduct intensive on-site checks for expired
food and other documentation.

He said that employees are already making spot checks to see if the
expired oatmeal is still available on store shelves.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
