GROUP CALLS ON ACTIVISTS TO PLASTER CONSTRUCTION SITE WITH PHOTOS OF NEGLECTED MONUMENTS

The civic group “We will not be silent” has issued an appeal to young
activists to plaster the steel walls surrounding the construction
site of the St. Anna Church and Yerevan residence of the Catholicos
in downtown Yerevan with photos of Armenian religious monuments that
are facing destruction due to the neglect by the church and secular
leaders.

The group says the fate of these historic monuments is in peril because
neither the Armenian Apostolic Church nor the government is willing to
take responsibility and that each is accusing the other of negligence.

Those wishing to download photos of such churches and monuments are
urged to write to chenlrelu@gmail.com.

The construction site in question is located at the intersection of
Sayat-Nova and Abovyan Streets.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
