CONGRESSMAN FRANK PALLONE SPEAKS ABOUT LACK OF KARABAKH ASSISTANCE

Congressman Frank Pallone, Monday wrote House Appropriations
Committee Chairman Harold Rogers and Kay Granger, Chairwoman of the
Appropriations Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations, and Related
Programs to express his concerns of reports that the Subcommittee has
broken precedent by failing to provide funding for humanitarian and
development assistance in Nagorno Karabakh. In past years, funding
for Nagorno Karabakh had broad bi-partisan support. Pallone expressed
concerns about the repercussions this lack of funding would have in
the region.

“Since 1998 USAID and other agencies have been providing funds for
humanitarian and other assistance programs in Nagorno Karabakh as a
result of the Appropriations Committee’s work. The decision to provide
no funds to Nagorno Karabakh in Fiscal Year 2012 is a break with the
practice of the Appropriations Committee, under both Democratic and
Republican control,” Pallone wrote in the letter.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
