Poland to produce blank passports and electronic ID cards for Armenia

Warsaw, July 28

Poland will produce blank passports and electronic ID cards for
Armenia. The Polish Security Printing Works and Armenian government
officials signed an agreement in Armenia on Thursday.

The Armenian government announced a tender for blank passport booklets
and electronic ID cards in November 2010. There were eight bidders and
the Polish firm won the contract.

The Polish Security Printing Works (PWPW) is a treasury stock company
set up in 1919.

PWPW’s president Krzysztof Zarnotal said he was very glad that the
professionalism of the Polish producer of documents was appreciated by
another customer on the international market.

Under the signed contract PWPW will launch in Armenia an electronic
system of issuance and personalisation of biometric passports and
biometric polycarbonate identity cards. In the coming five years PWPW
will deliver to Armenia 300,000 secured personal IDs and passport
booklets ready to personalisation.
