SALVADOR DALI AND SURREALISTS EXHIBITION OPENS IN ARMENIA

YEREVAN. – Armenian National Gallery on Thursday hold exhibition
of 160 printed graphic works of famous surrealist artists, such as
Salvador Dali, Leonor Fini, Giorgio de Chirico, including xylographic
works of Wassily Kandinsky. The exhibition is called Salvador Dali
and Surrealists.

Besides, 40 works of Armenian artists that have the influence of
surrealism are also presented at the exhibition. The artists are
Yervand Kochar, Sergei Parajanov, Hakob Hakobyan, and Levon Tutunjyan.

The works are presented from the collection of famous artist Salvador
Dali’s publisher, Pierre Argillet, head of Argillet gallery Christine
Argillet told at a press conference. She has selected the best 160
works and will show her father’s collection in such countries where
art is valued. Armenia is among them.

Current collection was formed by artist, sculptor and director
Salvador Dali and his publisher Pierre Argillet in course of 50 years
of their friendship.

The exhibition involves engravings, original works of Dali for
illustrations, which have been exhibited in France and Spain.

The exhibition was organized by Armenian Ministry of Culture,
Consulate of U.S. to Armenia and United Armenian Fund. It will last
till October 15.
