On June 15-24, Paris will host an exhibition on the art of khachkar.

As Armenian Deputy Minister of Culture Arev Samuelyan told a
news conference, the exhibit will be held in the framework of
UNESCO-organized scientific conferences, with representatives of the
countries worldwide, including Armenia, attending.

The exhibit will feature photos made by Parajanov Museum director
Zaven Sargsyan, portraying khachkars of different epochs.

During the exhibit, Armenian master of khachkar will be creating a
cross-stone for the visitors to see.

On November 17, 2010, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and
Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has declared the Armenian khachkar
(cross-stone) an intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent
safeguarding.

Emil Lazarian: “I should like to see any power of the world destroy this race, this small tribe of unimportant people, whose wars have all been fought and lost, whose structures have crumbled, literature is unread, music is unheard, and prayers are no more answered. Go ahead, destroy Armenia . See if you can do it. Send them into the desert without bread or water. Burn their homes and churches. Then see if they will not laugh, sing and pray again. For when two of them meet anywhere in the world, see if they will not create a New Armenia.” - WS
