February 22, Congress of World Azerbaijanis and Azerbaijani Civil
Solidarity Party held a protest in front of Iranian Embassy in Baku.
About 50 picketers called Iranian side to break off relations with
Armenia, as well as respect the rights of Azerbaijanians in Iran.
The demonstrators chanted "Shame on the country, opening out arms
to murderers", "Fraternity with expansionist Armenia conflicts with
Islamic values", "The true face of Muslim fan" and "NO tarshish
chauvinism".
A 20-minute protest was dispersed by the police, Trend News agency
reports.
As NEWS.am reported earlier, February 18-19, protest actions were
held in front of Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Tehran. The picketers burnt
an Azerbaijani flag, threw egg at the Embassy office and profanes
state symbol.
This is not the first scandalous incident between the states. It is
worthy mentioning that the protests were held on the threshold of
Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Ogtay Asadov’s visit to Iran. He met
with Iranian President, Foreign Minister and other top officials.
February 19, at the Feb. 19 meeting with journalists Iranian Ambassador
to RA Seyed Ali Saghaeyan said that Iran is the only country having
common border with Nagorno-Karabakh, thereby recognizing liberated
territories part of NKR.
