ARMENIA SEEKS $100M LOAN FROM RUSSIA FOR LOCAL DIAMOND MANUFACTURING SECTOR

Armenia has turned to Russia for a $100 million loan to go towards the
downstream diamond industry, reports Interfax. The Armenian Prime
Minister Tigran Sargsyan announced at a news conference earlier this
week that the country asked Russia to allocate $100 million so Armenia
could invest it local diamond manufacturing sector.

Depending on negotiations with the Russian authorities and Alrosa, the
entire loan will be spent on improving Armenia’s diamond reprocessing
industry, creating all the necessary conditions and providing local
companies with raw materials from Russia, Interfax reported the
Armenian prime minister as saying.
